JEAN FOGELBERG
Vocals & ukuleles
Born in Queens, NY, Jean Fogelberg's family moved to Lompoc when she was 5 years old. During her senior year at Cabrillo High School, she performed in a 50s cover band and that summer she won the 1973 Flower Festival Queen pageant, playing guitar and singing for the talent competition. In 1975, while attending Alan Hancock college and working as a graveyard waitress at Denny's in Santa Maria, Jean was asked to join a cover band, in San Luis Obispo. From then on, she performed in bands and as a solo act from Shell Beach to Solvang, before moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1989. While singing and playing guitar in a cafe in 1996, she met musician Dan Fogelberg. They were married in 2002 and lived in Colorado and Maine until his death in December of 2007. For the next 16 years, she oversaw his legacy and taught photography workshops in India, Bali, Mexico and the UK. Returning to the Santa Ynez Valley in 2024, after a 27-year hiatus from music, she began performing solo and providing background vocals for other musicians. In August of 2025 she formed Sage City Band with Rick Knowles.

RICK KNOWLES
Vocals & acoustic and electric guitars
Rick Knowles was born in Phoenix, AZ, one of 7 kids. The family moved to Southern California in 1963. Growing up in the heart of Orange County, listening to his Dad strum on an old Martin nylon string guitar, Rick began playing guitar at 14. In 1975 he was working as a ski patroller at Lake Tahoe resorts and playing in a trio in North Shore restaurants and bars. In 1981 he relocated to Colorado to ski patrol at Keystone, North Peak and Arapahoe Basin resorts in the winter and play music at the local bars and restaurants during the summer. Five years later he moved back to Phoenix to purchase a family-owned company. In 1998 a move to Santa Barbara offered more chances to pursue a musical dream, surrounded by local and nationally known artists. He sold the family business in 2005 and devoted more time to playing guitar and recording with friends. After playing with the Lowdown Dudes Band from 2014 to 2024, he joined forces with Jean Fogelberg to form the Sage City Band in 2025.
