RICK KNOWLES
Vocals & acoustic and electric guitars
Rick Knowles was born in Phoenix, AZ, one of 7 kids. The family moved to Southern California in 1963. Growing up in the heart of Orange County, listening to his Dad strum on an old Martin nylon string guitar, Rick began playing guitar at 14. In 1975 he was working as a ski patroller at Lake Tahoe resorts and playing in a trio in North Shore restaurants and bars. In 1981 he relocated to Colorado to ski patrol at Keystone, North Peak and Arapahoe Basin resorts in the winter and play music at the local bars and restaurants during the summer. Five years later he moved back to Phoenix to purchase a family-owned company. In 1998 a move to Santa Barbara offered more chances to pursue a musical dream, surrounded by local and nationally known artists. He sold the family business in 2005 and devoted more time to playing guitar and recording with friends. After playing with the Lowdown Dudes Band from 2014 to 2024, he joined forces with Jean Fogelberg to form the Sage City Band in 2025.
